I’ve struggled to come up with a consistent elevator pitch for this project over the years. I think it’s easier for me to describe what the music is about rather than to give it a label:
At the end of the day I think it’s easier for me to describe what the music is about rather than to give it a label. The overarching theme of Dimensions is one of overcoming internal obstacles in search of life-affirming experiences. Facing fears only to find out they were entirely unwarranted. Meeting heroes to discover they share some of my struggles or don’t always have things figured out. Accessing different facets of self through varied experiences all while searching for that one place that represents true self, an internal and external home. These are themes that were swirling around in my ahead 5-6 years ago as these songs were being written and today they feel like reminders of lessons that remain relevant in my life. But it’s not all that serious! There’s a hefty dose of goofiness in here too. I still like this description Pamela Vachon wrote about my music a few years back: Campbell’s music is full of complex beat-obsessions, striking chordal tones, and both silly and serious subject matter.
